Tara Gaon Development Board was established in 2034 B.S. under the Development Board Act, 2013 B.S. The main objective of the board is to promote Nepalese art, culture and the way of life and develop tourism in Nepal. The main objective of TGDB is to promote sustainable development of tourism in Nepal through nature conservation and development of Nepal's culture and natural heritage. This includes the promotion of Nepalese arts and culture and the Nepalese way of life. TGDB's current focus is on rural, cultural and pilgrimage tourism. Poverty alleviation is a top priority programme area of His Majesty's Government of Nepal (HMG/N). Accordingly, TGDB has focused on village tourism program. The program focuses on community development through cultural, rural and pilgrimage tourism with participation from the local communities. TDGB is committed to contribute towards alleviating poverty and improve the quality of life of the rural people in Nepal through community-based tourism.
