BACKGROUND
Whilst walking about the busy streets of Thamel, you will come across a traditional house built in the Pagoda architectural style, appended with marvelously adorned wood carved windows doors and brick walls at a glance, you will see that the building has been taken care of lovingly and graciously and that it is clean and well maintained. This is the Thamel House Restaurant, a traditional restaurant with fine cuisine
It should be interesting to learn that the Thamel House Restaurant was built over a hundred years ago for an affluent Newar family. The Kathmandu Valley's buildings and carving skills were very fine, allowing an atmosphere of tranquility and beauty for the Thamel House Restaurant.
Inside, the restaurant's tasteful decor blends with the warm atmosphere of the house. The ceilings have been finished with locally made brick tile. Such preservation of the old ways of living, lends to a uniquely special dining experience
